Additional Information: Chickies Rock is one of Pennsylvania's climbing treasures, at over 200 feet tall at it's highest point. The rock is 500 million year-old quartzite, originally laid down as sandy shoals on the edge of a long vanished ocean. Easy access to top-rope anchor locations at cliff top, abundant cracks and features for well-protected trad climbing, and a quick approach makes Chickies an ideal choice for a day of rock-climbing. In 2016, SCPC began partnering with Lancaster County Parks and Recreation to assist with climbing education, risk management, and conservation. Over several years, SCPC has been working to re-establish and clean old lines that have been grown in for years. Stay tuned for trail days, clean ups, and events at Chickies in the future.
